Are you looking for the fastest, most convenient way to travel from Taitung to Kenting. You’re at the right place! Here I will explain how to travel by train and bus between these two destinations in Southern Taiwan. I will also show you how to get to Kenting from other places in Taitung County, such as Yuli, Luye, Chishang, Donghe, Dulan, and Chenggong.
Taitung City to Kenting
From Taitung City, you take a train to Fangliao station, on the other side of the island. There are trains starting from Taitung city, but most of them start in Hualien. These trains are bound for Kaohsiung, but you do not have to go all the way to Kaohsiung. Just get off the train at Fangliao, it will be cheaper and faster.

At Fangliao train station, exit through the main entrance, walk straight ahead to the main road, cross it, and turn left. The bus station will be on your left. You can catch a bus to Kenting from here. Buses run about every 20 to 30 minutes. It takes about 1h, 15m to reach Kenting.
Most local buses will also stop at the following points: Hengchun, Nanwan, Kenting village, Little Bay (Xiaowan), Sail Rock, and Eluanbi (Southern Tip of Taiwan).

Chenggong, Donghe, Dulan to Kenting
From Donghe, Dulan, Chenggong, or other points along the east coast, you first need to take a bus to Taitung train station. From there, it’s the same as described above. Train from Taitung City to Fangliao, then bus to Kenting. From the city of Taitung to Kenting, it takes about 3h, 30m by train and bus.
Yuli, Luye, Chishang to Kenting
From the small villages located along the East Rift Valley, it’s very easy to get to Kenting. You simply have to catch one of the trains from Hualien, that’s heading to Kaohsiung. Get off in Fangliao and take a bus to Kenting. Voila!
