Oh yeah baby, we’re having a drink tonight! You are so at the perfect place to start your search for Kenting nightlife. I’ve been traveling / living around the Kenting / Hengchun / Manzhou area for more than 20 years, so I know the best spots all over the place. Ready…? Leave your scooter or car keys at home… Let’s Go… Party on!
Kenting Village Nightlife
Alex Reggae Bar
Alex’s booze truck and BBQ grill by the road is the place you wanna be at if you’ll be having drinks in Kenting village. There’s a couple of similar booze vans nearby, close to Little Bay, but Alex is the only one I recommend. Why? Well his food is really good. The beef and chicken legs are my favorite, it comes with hot chili sauce, and it’s just perfect with his icy cold Taiwan beer on tap.
Hours: 7pm to 2am every day, sometimes closed on Monday
Little Bay Beach Bar
At Little Bay (小灣 xiǎo wān) this beautiful and large wooden terrace offers one of the best “drinking on the beach” experience. Unfortunately, the list of cocktails is not extensive and the service is far from the best, but the view is great and the vibe is nice on quiet (no wind) evenings. Little Bay Beach Bar is my favorite spot to sip a cold one while listening to the sound of the waves.
Address: No. 6號, Kending Road, Hengchun Township
Hours: 10am to 12am, every day
Party animals will love Player! This is where the biggest parties in Kenting are sometimes thrown, like around New Year’s eve, or other special holiday. They always have a full menu, cocktails, dart boards, and friendly staff to welcome and serve you. I like that you can sit either outside at big wooden tables, or inside, covered from the wind which can be an annoyance during the colder winter months.
Address: No. 20-1號, Dawan Road, Hengchun Township
Hours: 6pm to 4am every day, 6pm to 12am on Wednesday
Nightlife in Hengchun
Newcut Warehouse 鈕扣倉庫
Newcut Warehouse is a massive funky warehouse turned into a bar / art exhibition / skateboarding park / live music venue. When I say massive, I mean very big. It’s like 500 pings or more. It’s nearby the Hengchun Night Market, and it’s one of the coolest places in town to have a beer with locals and listen to live music and watch random, quirky performances.
Address: No. 12號, Hengxi Road, Hengchun Township
Hours: 6pm – 1:30am every day
Small bar not too far from Newcut Warehouse, also on the night market street. Gets quite busy on weekends, so you might have to squeeze in a corner or stand. Food is solid, I personally love their steak. Beers sold by the big bottle, which is a huge plus if you’re a fast drinker and the staff is too busy to serve you. Definitely a younger crowd / local holiday-workers venue.
Address: Hengchun Township, Fude Road, 139號號
Hours: 5pm to 1am
Nightlife in Nanwan
Cowboys Beach Bar and Grill
Cowboys obviously needs no introduction, but I will still mention it because it’s owned by my good friends Niki and her husband Ian. It’s the one bar in Kenting where I spend the most time (and money) at.
You can find Cowboy at Le Huo 樂活 South Bay Recreation Area, where there’s a massive wooden patio with a bunch of little bars which all look the same. But Cowboy is not the same.
Niki and her staff will treat you nicely, make sure your glass is never even close to empty, and chat with you if you sit at the bar. Ian (guy with the cowboy hat in the above picture) often plays live music here, and so do other live performers. Ambiance-wise, Cowboys is unbeatable.
Address: No. 223 Nanwan Road Unit 1, Hengchun Township
Hours: Closed on Monday, open from around 12 noon til very late the other days
Nightlife at Baishawan
Happy Panda 快樂白沙
I’m not 100% sure what this place is called anymore, as it’s changed a couple of times in the past few years. I think it’s Happy Baisha, but their Google info still says Happy Panda. Regardless, this bar has got a really good location, right on the northern end of Baisha Beach, facing the sea. It’s basically the only place in the area where you can sit down and have a proper drink. It’s pretty cool and laidback, but can get seriously crowded on weekends during high season. I believe the bar is owned by the campground, but who knows with this place…

Nightlife in Manzhou
Update August 2021: Flying Tiger is unfortunately currently closed. They are looking around in the same area for a new location. I will update as soon as they re-open!
Flying Tiger is my #1 recommendation if you want a unique and special experience in Kenting National Park for a drink, a bite, and good vibe. 4 reasons mainly come to mind about this very awesome bar: the friendly owners (Drew and Alison), the high-quality drinks, the location, and the food.
Most other bars on this Kenting nightlife page will likely be packed to the brim with tourists on Friday and Saturday nights. Kenting is a destination where most people’s top thing to do is to get wasted. And there’s actually not that many places to drink, hence most venues being very crowded. Flying Tiger is not the same, it’s usually quieter, due to its remote location on the east side of the peninsula.
That’s right, it’s not in Kenting town. It’s located on road #26 in front of Xinghai Harbor, 3 minutes south of Jialeshui. It’s a bit out of the way, but it’s totally worth it. Drew uses the highest quality ingredients for his cocktails and it’s the only place where my wife Ruby will have a drink. She never drinks, but she does when she’s at Flying Tiger, because it’s super high-quality stuff. The empanadas are the best we’ve had in Taiwan, and the carnitas plate (with homemade pulled pork) is even better!
