Car Rental in Taoyuan, Taiwan

taoyuan car rental taiwan

Find out how and where to hire a car in Taoyuan City!

On this page, you’ll find all the information you need about car rental in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

The main international airport in Taiwan is located 40km southwest of Taipei City, and it’s called Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. It used to be called CKS Airport. That’s where you want to hire a car!

Make sure you’ve got your hotels booked in advance in Taiwan!

Where to rent a car in Taoyuan?

The easiest place to find rental cars in Taoyuan is right at the airport. The cars are a bit more expensive than in the city center, but it’s much more convenient to get it here – you don’t have to carry your luggage around and there’s no need to pay for a taxi. Plus, the people who work at the car rental agencies at Taoyuan Airport will be able to serve you in English.

Requirements to rent a car in Taiwan

  • You will need to show your international driver’s license as well as your normal (state or province) driver’s license.
  • Apart from that, all you need is a detailed map of Taiwan and good driving skills – Taiwanese drivers (and scooter riders) drive like maniacs!

Info about Car Hire in Taoyuan Airport

There are two terminals at Taoyuan International Airport and you’ll find companies to rent a car or a van at both of them.

In Terminal 1, you’ll find car rental service on the north side of the arrival lobby. There are huge English signs all over the place, so you won’t have trouble to find it. The main company there is called Ching Bing and it’s opened from 5:00am until midnight. You can reserve a rental car in Taoyuan Airport at this phone number: +886-3-3983979

In Terminal 2, the car rental company is called Easy Rent and you’ll find it on the north side of the arrival area. You can hire a car or van there from 9:00am until midnight. Call them at +886-3-3983636 to book your car in advance.

One thing I like about Easy Rent is they have car rental offices all over Taiwan in the following major cities: Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hsinchu, Chiayi, Tainan, Hualien, and Taitung. So if you have to rent your car in Taoyuan and leave it at another destination, it’s not a problem and it shouldn’t cost you too much extra.

Car Rental at Taoyuan High Speed Rail Station

Easy Rent has a car rental office at the HSR station in Taoyuan. The process is as fast as at the airport and the rates are the same. People there can also speak English. Getting on the highway from the HSR station is a breeze.

I hope you found this page about car rental in Taoyuan, Taiwan helpful!

Drive safely, and have a nice trip in Taiwan!

Remember to reserve your accommodations in Taiwan in advance.
