Taichung's Top Swimming Pool

Nothing feels better than a cool dip on a hot, sticky summer day. So grab a towel, dig your bathing suit out of storage, it's time to head for Meiyi, Taichung's best swimming pool. Meiyi goes by many different names: AmVets Club Pool, Chungming Pool or most commonly "the pool by the art museum."

There are two sizable pools at Meiyi; one indoor and one outdoor. The pool outside has six long corridors and is perfect for doing laps. Sunbathers will enjoy the palm trees and deck chairs that surround the pool. There's also a water slide and a shallow pool for smaller children. There's no better place in Taichung to bring your kids on weekends. The lifeguards are extremely diligent about keeping kids safe here. Outdoor facilities also include cold and hot baths as well as a jacuzzi area.

The indoor pool is also a nice size and the water is warm even in the cold winter months. A steam room, sauna and fitness room are also available. The changing rooms provide lockers where you can safely store your belongings. Swimming lessons are also offered at Meiyi.

The pool is open every day from 5:30am until 22:00pm. The quietest time here is on week days, during lunchtime. Very often, when the sun is strong, people stick inside and you can get the outside pool for yourself.

You'll find Meiyi Swimming Pool only 3 blocks away from the Art museum at the corner of Chungming South Rd. and WuQuan West Rd. It's opposite the City Bank and the motorbike shop, on the east side of Chung Ming. It's next to the big furniture store. You won't see the pool or the building from the road as it's surrounded by tall trees.

The pool is currently looking for an English speaking swimming instructor who would be ready to give a one-hour class/week in exchange for free pool coupons.
