Shanxi Restaurant
A taste of Northern China
Taichung's Shanxi Restaurant is a true secret. Really, nobody knows about it. I have never seen another foreigner there. Not because the food isn't good. Quite the opposite actually - the food is amazing! The thing is there's no English sign and no expat magazine has ever published anything on them. They are unknown. Well... were unknown... until now.

Things we love about Shanxi Restaurant:
- the price (most dishes are between NT$50 and NT$120)
- the extremely hospitable owner/cook (she's from Shanxi province, in Nortern China)
- no foreigners (not that I don't like my own kind...)
- everything is super clean
- the freshness of the ingredients
Unmissable Dishes:
- Water Spinach in Tofu Sauce (fulu kongxin cai) NT$120
- Red Chili Cabage (gongbao gaoli) NT$120
- Hot and Sour Soup (suan la tang) NT$55
- Cat's Ears Noodles (sanxian chao mao erduo) NT$120
