I've taken the following 33 pictures of Chinese dragons in temples, museums and memorials around Taiwan. It took me ten years to build this little collection of Chinese dragon images.
This is the Chinese character for dragon. The pronunciation for dragon in Chinese is long.

Chinese dragons are legendary creatures that symbolize power, strength and good luck. Long ago in China, the dragon appeared on the national flag. It used to represent the Chinese emperor.

Chinese people are often referred to as the descendants of the dragon.

Many Chinese proverbs refer to the dragon. A popular one says: "Hoping one's son will become a dragon". Which means "hoping one's son will become powerful and successful."

Someone once told me: "A chinese dragon has a horse's head, a snake's tail, a demon's eyes, the belly of a clam, the scales of a carp, an eagle's claws and a cow's ears." Can you see the resemblances?

My favorite picture of all my collection of Chinese dragons. I was riding my motorbike just outside Taichung city (close to Dali), when I saw the silhouette of this dragon sitting at the top of a small temple lost between some rice paddies.
